Unique Discoveries – Peninsular (East Coast) – 7D/6N


Day 1:  Arrive at Kota Bharu -
Point A

Lunch and Dinner provided

Upon arrival, you will meet our representative and the Unique Discoveries commences.

After lunch, we begin the tour with visits to few fascinating and enriching locations in the heart of the town. To start off, we will learn songket weaving and the world renowned moon-kite making (Wau). It is an intricately designed Malaysian moon-kite (normally with floral motifs) that is traditionally flown by men in the state of Kelantan. It is one of Malaysia's national symbols. We then visit the famous colourful Central Market (Pasar Siti Khatijah) where majority of the traders are women. We then drive from Kota Bharu town and enjoy the beautiful picturesque journey to the reclining and sitting Buddha (Wat Photivihan), the longest in South-East Asia. A visit to the Dragon Temple and Seven lagoon Beach and the famous Fish Farm in Kelantan is in place too. Before leaving to hotel, we transfer to Pengkalan Kubur (Malaysia-Thailand border), where we can buy some souvenirs at the Duty Free Shop.

Day 2:  Kota Bharu / Kuala Terengganu -
Point B

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided

After breakfast, transfer overland to Terengganu (approximately 3-hours drive). During the 1970's and early 80's, Kuala Terengganu is the place where travelers would stopover. With quaint coastal kampongs where you could get away from the city and from impersonal motels and hotels, Kuala Terengganu certainly beholds immeasurable tranquility. Its natural wonders, unique heritage and friendly people make Terengganu a place that is truly magical. Among the highlights of the tour will be Keris hilt making, songket weaving, visits to traditional Malay villages, mengkuang and pandanus weaving, dodol making and many more.

Day 3:  Kuala Terengganu

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided

After breakfast, we engage to the Terengganu River Safari. Cruise from Shahbandar River Jetty to the fascinating Pulau Duyung fishing village where you come across wild animals such as monitor lizard, monkeys, crabs, colourful birds and eagles. Witness the traditional life style of Terengganu villagers where we will stop at one of the village. We then proceed to State Museum which is the largest Museum in Southeast Asia. After lunch, depart from Kuala Terengganu to Terrapin Conservation Centre at Bukit Paloh located on the bank of Terengganu River. Some 1,300 eggs are collected from three conservation sites between January and April yearly. The centre keeps about 1,350 hatchlings at any one time and releases an average of 600 annually. After lunch, we depart for Sekayu. The Sekayu Waterfall is located within the Sekayu Recreational Forest in Kuala Berang. It was established in 1974 and officially launched in 1985. Towards the evening, trek through the tropical rain forest to the summit enjoying an unforgettable journey as the green forest and running cool water will entice you to a different wonder of nature. We will then head back to hotel for dinner; the rest of the night will be free at your own leisure.

Day 4:  Kuala Terengganu / Lake Kenyir -
Point C

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided

After check-out, we will start our journey to Discover Lake Kenyir and its beautiful surroundings.

It will take approximately 2-hours to reach northeast of Terengganu and once arrived, we will proceed to check-in at Lake Kenyir Resort & Spa. With a water catchment area of 38,000-hectares, the lake is naturally a sight to behold. We will make our way to Sungai Ketiar Elephant Sanctuary, a project started in 2007 in a move to protect and preserve wild elephants. Next, we will have lunch and picnic overlooking the majestic lake which promises a peaceful experience. We will head back to resort nestled in lush forests and landscaped gardens, each chalet is secluded and offers modern amenities and facilities for your accommodation in Lake Kenyir. Most chalets have a commanding view of Lake Kenyir, and its large and spacious interior as well as its warm ambience provides a comfortable sanctuary to rest and admire the panoramic views of the lake, rainforest and hills.

Day 5:  Lake Kenyir

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided

After breakfast, we start the tour by visiting Herbal Island. This island is a component of Eco-Aqua Tourism Park and holds more than 200 types of traditional and indigenous herbal plants. On the other note, Lake Kenyir is home to more than 8,000 species of flowers, 2,500 species of plants and trees, 800 species of orchids, and 300 species of fungus. After lunch, we will pay a visit to Kelah Sanctuary. This sanctuary has been gazetted as a protective zone for the protection, preservation and reproductions of the fresh water fish in Lake Kenyir. A tour serenaded with enriching experiences indeed!  The rest of the day will be spent at the resort where dinner will be served you will be free at your own leisure thereafter

Day 6:  Lake Kenyir / Kuantan -
Point D

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided

We will have an early departure to Panching Caves and Pandan Waterfalls in Kuantan, Pahang (approximately 5.5hours). We will then take a 30-mins drive to Panching Cave from Kuantan to witness a solitary Buddhist monk, who manages the Caves. This limestone caves jut out from the surrounding lowlands and a 20 foot climb the metal stairs is necessary. In the interior of the cave sits a small statue of Buddha and the monk's living quarters. As you go deeper, it will reveal a 30 foot long statue of the Reclining Buddha. Towards evening, we will proceed to the Pandan Waterfalls, a short drive through the thick jungle that takes you through a series of eight cascades that produces crystal clear cool mountain water. You will be enticed to join in the splashing activity. We then head back to the hotel to check-in. The rest of the day will be free at your own leisure.

Day 7:  Kuantan / Pekan / Mersing -
Point E

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided

After breakfast, we will transfer to Pekan, located on the banks of the Pahang River 50-km south of Kuantan (approximately 1.5-hours drive).

Pekan is the royal town of the Malaysian state of Pahang Darul Makmur. We will stop by at Muzium Diraja at Pahang and study the rich and historic heritage Pahang preserves. Just before lunch, we will continue our journey to find the best yet laidback restaurant along the coastal trunk road in search for an unforgettable lunch. After lunch, we will continue our journey to Mersing in Johor. In Mersing, we will proceed to Boardwalk, where it stretches along the shore facing the South China Sea. The best time to go is during the evening, when you'll meet lots of families taking a walk after dinner. After relaxing, we head back to check-in to hotel. Areas around Mersing have very low light pollution, which is perfect for studying the heavens. Since Mersing is near the Equator, you have a clear view of both the Northern and Southern hemispheres, and thus able see the Big Dipper and the Southern Cross at the same time. The Milky Way is especially beautiful to view from here.

Day 7:  Mersing

Breakfast provided

Free at own leisure till departure pick up, where you will be transferred to the airport / jetty for your onward destination. (Option for beach stays: Redang, Perhentian, Tanjong Jara, Tioman, etc)
