Amazing Discoveries – Combination (Fun & Relax) – 10D/9N

 

Day 1: Arrive at Kuala Lumpur - Point A

Upon arrival, you will meet our representative and the Discover KL Tour commences.

The tour begins with a stop at The Independence Square, once the main British parade & cricket ground. Here, learn about the single-phase construction of Mughal-style colonial public buildings, that includes the famous Sultan Abdul Samad Building. Later we drive by the Old Railway Station followed by a photo stop of The Petronas Twin Towers. We will then visit Batu Caves, famous for its celebrated limestone cave temple as well as the world’s tallest statue of Murugan, a Hindu deity. Moving forward, we will visit the Royal Selangor Pewter Visitors Centre. Among the highlights at the centre: Pewter Museum, two-storey high replica of the Petronas Twin, the Chamber of Chimes, Hall of Finishes and Giant Weighing Scale. The Factory Tour shows ‘live’ different pewter production processes - casting, filing, polishing, soldering, hammering and engraving as well as the intricacies of making Selberan’s fine jewelry. You will then transfer back to hotel after the tour.

Day 2: Kuala Lumpur

Breakfast and Lunch provided

The tour highlights the old and the modern that makes this city vibrant. We will begin with a city train ride to Masjid Jamek, the meeting of two rivers where early settlement of Kuala Lumpur began.

From here, you will trail along heritage walk on foot, admiring the centuries-old colonial buildings, minarets, spires and arches pampered with sights to behold. Be the judge where you will be able to taste and witness the making of our typical local food - roti canai (a type of flatbread) and teh tarik (literally, ‘pulled tea’, a frothy tea concoction). Some of the other highlights include: Jalan Masjid India (Indian Mosque Street), The Colonial Core, Medan Pasar (Old Market Square), Central Market, Sin Sze Si Ya Temple (Built by the Chinese leader Yap Ah Loy in the 19th century), Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, Chinatown and Chan She Shu Yuen Clan House.

Day 3:  Kuala Lumpur / Malacca - Point B

Breakfast and Lunch provided

After breakfast, overland transfer to Malacca at an approximate 1.5-hours journey. Upon arrival, get ready for the tour of Malacca the ‘Historical City’ where you’ll catch some amazing sights of heritage buildings and ancient landmarks.

We start with a visit to St. Peter’s Church which was built in 1710, the oldest in the country that is still being used today. We will be driving past the 17th Century Chinese Hill as well. Next we proceed to view the famous gateway of Porta De Santiago and the ruins of St. Paul’s Church that is lined with 17th Century Dutch tombstones. Next up is the Red Square (a salmon colored) Dutch Administrative Building which houses the Malacca Museum and government offices. Moving forward, we will visit Christchurch before breaking for lunch (local restaurant), then resuming with a trip to the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, the oldest active temple in the country. Finally, we take a stroll along Jonker Street, a heritage street lined with shop houses that ends at the banks of the Malacca River.

Day 4:  Malacca / Penang – Point C

Breakfast and Afternoon Tea provided

After breakfast, we check-out and transfer overland to the enchanting ‘Pearl of the Orient’. Penang is a fascinating fusion of the East and West while retaining its traditions and old world charm. These are reflected in its harmonious multiracial populace and well-preserved heritage buildings which led to George Town being accorded in the listing as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site recently. Among the highlights of this tour: Batu Ferringhi (drive by), Teluk Bahang (drive pass), Fishing Village, Fruit Stalls (drive by), Malay Village, Snake Temple, Penang Bridge (drive by) and Georgetown (drive pass). If time permits, a visit to a local product outlet may be included. All entrance fees are included.

Towards late afternoon, we will enjoy a romantic trishaw ride in the city of Georgetown. Discover how a number of multi-cultured people can live harmoniously together in this city. Among the highlights of this tour: Trishaw ride to Fort Cornwallis (outside view), Weld Quay (Chew Jetty), Khoo Kongsi, Street of Harmony, Little India (Mahamariamman Temple), Pinang Peranakan Mansion and we will also enjoy an afternoon tea at E & O Hotel.

Day 5:  Penang

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided

After breakfast, head on to a mesmerizing and captivating ride up via funicular train to the Penang Hill which offers a scenic view of Penang. Later we will visit one of the largest temple in South East Asia and a tortoise sanctuary that is located within the vicinity. Towards the evening, we explore Georgetown like you have never experienced before and have your meal at the 'one and only' restaurant in Penang that boasts of breathtaking night views of Georgetown. You can try the Wantan Noodle, Hokkien Noodle and Char Kuew Toew - these are famous noodle dishes. You will never get enough of Penang, unless you were born there! (Please note that the dishes rendered may vary and subjected to change due to unavailable).

Day 6:  Penang / Kuching - Point D

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided

After breakfast, we transfer by flight to continue our journey to Kuching, a fine city for an enriching holiday that's as packed with learning as it is leisure. Upon arrival, you will meet our representative and the Discover Kuching City & River Tour commences.

As the perfect introduction to Sarawak’s historical capital, this tour includes Chinatown, the Cat Statue, the colourful Tua Pek Kong Chinese Temple, the Civic Centre Viewing Platform and the world famous Sarawak Museum.

We will get the chance to visit the unique Cat Museum situated across river, passing the magnificent State Mosque and the Astana, the former residence of the White Rajahs. We will return via the Golden-Domed City Mosque and proceed on foot through Old Kuching, visiting the colourful Central Markets while squeezing through narrow alleyways crammed with spice dealers and textile shops. Pass by the heritage buildings of the White Rajah era, the Pavilion, the Square Tower, the Court House, the Charles Brooke Monument and the famous Post Office to get the taste of this historical euphoria. Before tour ends, we will take the pontoon boat river cruise viewing this remarkable city. You will be transferred to check-in to the hotel. The rest of the day will be free at your own leisure

Day 7:  Kuching / Miri - Point E

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided

After breakfast, we will transfer by flight to Miri Airport (an approximate of 1-hour duration). After gathering, we will depart from Miri airport and transfer to hotel for check-in, the rest of the day will be free at your own leisure. Miri is currently investing a lot in tourism, and while most visitors still use the city primarily as a transport hub and base for the nearby national parks, there’s actually plenty to keep you entertained here, including parks and beaches outside town, an abundance of shops, good restaurants, several nightlife areas and friendly people.

Day 8:  Miri / Mulu - Point F

Breakfast and Dinner provided

We will start the journey by traveling by flight to Mulu. Upon arrival at Mulu airport, we will proceed with the transfer to Royal Mulu Resort for check-in. In Mulu, lies one of the most extensive and spectacular limestone cave systems on earth, as well as the second highest mountain peak in the state. After lunch, we transfer overland to Mulu Park Headquarters. From there, embark on the 3-km Plank Walk to explore Deer & Lang’s Cave. Watch the flight of thousands of bats if weather permits. Soon after, we will return back to the Park Headquarters and transfer back to resort. Dinner will be served while the rest of the day will be free at your own leisure.

Day 9:  Mulu

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided

After breakfast, we will depart by longboat cruise to explore Wind Cave Nature Reserve. The Wind Cave Nature Reserve is part of the Bau Formation, a narrow belt of limestone covering about 150 sq km of Southwest Sarawak. We will have a stopover at the Penan Longhouse. The Penans are the last remaining semi-nomadic people of Malaysia. Soon after, we proceed to explore the magnificent Clearwater cave - Asia's longest cave, measuring some 107-km. We can swim and lunch at local restaurant before transferring back to resort. Dinner will be served while the rest of the day will be free at your own leisure.

Day 10: Mulu

Breakfast provided

After breakfast, you will be free to explore the surrounding area of Mulu on your own leisure before your transfer to Mulu airport for your flight to your onward destination. (Option for beach stays: Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, etc)
