Lucky Winners Of Borneo Jazz and Rainforest World Music Festival 2013 T-Shirt Design
 
KUCHING, Thursday  – Winners of the T-shirt design competition for both the Borneo Jazz and Rainforest World Music Festival 2013 were today presented with their prizes at a simple ceremony held at the Sarawak Tourism Board.The winners were picked through a public poll conducted on the 22 to 24 February 2013 at a popular shopping mall in Kuching.  These winning designs will be printed on T-shirts to be produced as merchandise items for both the Borneo Jazz (BJ) and Rainforest World Music (RWMF) Festivals 2013.Chris Mega ak Gani from Lim Kok Wing University was selected by the public as the winner in both categories. For the Borneo Jazz category, Siti Zawani Bt Ibrahim and Suraida Bt Usman both of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) came in second and third place respectively. In the Rainforest World Music Festival, second and third placing went to Fenelia Joan Robert and Muhd Sukarno bin Abu Samah both also of UiTM Sarawak. All winners received tickets to the festival and a certificate of participation. The winning universities were also commended with a certificate of participation.
Throughout the years of running the 2 iconic events, Borneo Jazz and Rainforest World Music Festival, STB has recognized talents of local university students to design t-shirts to be used for the events. Students of Universities and institutions of higher learning in Malaysia were invited to send in their designs and the response was overwhelming.
The Competition is part of the Sarawak Tourism Boards’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) program. By reaching out to students all over Malaysia, their talent, not only in designing but also in assisting in the organization of events is encouraged.  STB will also continue to work with local as well as international universities as part of its Internship and volunteer programme.
Puan Angelina Bateman, Director of Corporate Communications, who represented the CEO Sarawak Tourism Board at the ceremony, commended the students and their lecturers for their continued support of the festivals. She said, ‘Your winning designs will be worn by festival goers and be brought back to where they came from and you should be proud that this will be the start of  your future career prospects’.

The winners each received tickets to the festival as well as a certificate of participation. The participating universities were also presented with Certificates of Participation.
