Kuala Lumpur has a good selection of reputable nightclubs and discos, most belonging to the big hotels. Nightclubs generally stay open until 0500hrs or 0600hrs and usually request a cover charge which includes the first drink free. Many of Kuala Lumpur's bars have a happy hour, offering two drinks for the price of one, between 1700hrs-2100hrs. Changkat Bukit Bintang is a lively spot and has a good selection of alfresco bars and coffee shops.

Penang is also lively at night, larger hotels having cocktail lounges, dining, dancing and cultural shows. There are night markets in most towns, including both Kuala Lumpur and Penang Chinatown. Malay and Chinese films often have English subtitles and there are also English films. The national lottery and Malaysia's only casino at Genting Highlands are government-approved and visitors are not supposed to gamble elsewhere.

Bar/Lounge    : The Library        null
Location : e@Curve, Damansara
Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur
IOI Mall, Puchong

Descriptions:

The Library made its way into the hearts and minds of the discerned community with its originality, and by simply being a well-loved place of commune. The concept of the Library is often referred to as a gastropub. A name combination between 'pub' and 'gastronomy', a gastropub is a British term for a public house which specializes in high-quality food a step above the more basic "pub grub". The use of dark wood, gorgeous-dim-lit lamps, cigar-lounge sofas and stacks of book covers within its interior walls creates a British-inspired design. Make your way to the alfresco side of the Library, and you will instantly be inspired by a touch of Andalucia. Enjoy your evening dose of cocktail amongst its white gorgeous pillars, lovely sofa beds and green palm trees as the setting sun darkens the skies.

The Library offers all comers to a bibliography of good, simple food where rustic French and Italian can sit side by side, or traditional Malay and English shelved together. This fusion of gastronomy offers the freedom that defines gastropub cookery, while leaving no room for the purist. After having the heartiest of meals, there is simply no better way to finish your gastronomic trip then to take a bite off the most heavenly cakes and cookies, all freshly baked from the kitchen.

Flipping through the pages of the drinks menu reveals the largest selection of beers from around the world and, indeed, single malt whiskies! From the bar taps flow the popular Hoegaarden and Stella Artois draft. Its feature also includes 'Your Personal Beer Taps', the first of its kind in Malaysia, where patrons can enjoy a private area and literally tap their own beers! This novel concept is perfect for special parties and all types of gatherings.

The Library provides an endless stream of entertainment. Let our sassy librarians serve you while the DJ spins your choice of music; or choose to shoot pool while being entertained by the array of weekly live bands on show. Like the English always say, live life and be merry. Here at the Library, these words never rang so true.
