Itinerary
:
Day
1
|
You
will be met upon arrival and proceed for halfday Kuching
city tour. Kuching meaning "cat" in the Malay
language is situated on both banks of the Sarawak River.
It is also the Capital of Sarawak. This tour takes you across
the Satok Bridge to cruise pass the State Mosque and a visit
to the Cat Museum (closed on Mondays), view the Astana,
the former residence of the White Rajahs, now the Governor's
residence, the Court House, the Post Office, the Pavilion,
the Square Tower, the Sarawak Museum and the Central Market.
A stopover at the picturesque and colourful "Tua Pek
Kong" Chinese Temple built in 1876. |
Day
2

After breakfast,
visit the Semengok Wildlife Centre. The centre is a sanctuary
for orang utans rescued from captivity where they would
be carefully nurtured and rehabilitated for eventual release
into the jungle, their natural habitat. It is also home
to some honey bears, hornbills, gibbons, eagles, storks
and barking deers. The tour includes a stopover at a pepper
orchard for a close view of the pepper vines. Feeding
times at the centre at 0830hrs and 1500hrs. Lunch at the
local restaurant. Then visit Sarawak Cultural Village.
It built
on a 17-acre site, next to a scenic man-made lake, the
village boasts seven ethnic houses representative of the
Malay, the Chinese, the Penan and the longhouses of the
Bidayuh, Iban, Orang Ulu and the Melanau. Authentically
built and replete with traditional crafts, tools, utensils
and artifacts the village has been dubbed as the "living
museum" of Sarawak. Browse around the village and
observe the inhabitants f the various houses display their
skills in making traditional handicrafts such as beading,
wood-carving, bamboo-carving, pua-weaving, etc. You can
also view traditional methods of making sago, crushing
sugar cane and how the Penans make blow-pipes and other
hunting instruments. This tour includes a colourful cultural
performance in a modern air-conditioned theatrette. (Guest
who stay in Damai are required to walk back to the hotel
after visit the Sarawak Cultiral Village)
