Chinese New Year Celebration and Open House

Drums, gongs and cymbals clang and clash in accompaniment to lion and dragon dances, as the Chinese New Year is ushered in. The festival is celebrated over a 15-day period. On the eve of Chinese New Year, family members hold reunion dinners followed by the 'open house' for relatives and friends.

This is an exciting time to be in Malaysia as visitors are surprised to come upon lion and dragon dance performances in public venues. The abundance of mandarin oranges and stalks of plum blossoms, believed to bring properity and good luck, add to the festive air.
