This
is a day of penance and thanksgiving by Hindu devotees held in honour of Lord
Subramaniam. The festival is best experienced in Kuala Lumpur where the deity's
jewelled chariot is led in a mass procession through the streets of the city,
culminating at Batu Caves in Selangor.
