“Discover Kuala Lumpur Tour”
for Transit Passengers
Transit passengers
with more than four hours to spare in Kuala Lumpur International
Airport (KLIA) will now be able to take a quick tour of the Malaysian
capital of Kuala Lumpur. Called “Discover Kuala Lumpur”
(DKL), the transit tour is one of KLIA’s many ongoing efforts
to enhance its facilities by offering passengers waiting on transit,
a quick tour of the city of Kuala Lumpur using the high-speed
ERL, the KLIA express train.
To promote DKL,
a transit tour counter has been set-up at the Satellite Building
in KLIA for passengers waiting in transit. Passengers wishing
to take up DKL need only pay for the return train fare on the
ERL. A self-guide DKL booklet will be provided free for the visitor
to make the free-and-easy trip down to KL Sentral where a well-connected
LRT system will take them to their choice destinations. The recommended
list of attractions in DKL aptly captures the essence and the
appeal of the ever-changing and unique blend of traditions, cultures
and modernity of the cosmopolitan Malaysian capital.
For the less adventurous,
visitors may opt for a guided tour where they will be met by Menara
KL staff upon arrival at KL Sentral.
The self-guided
transit tour counter in KLIA is manned by Express Rail Link (ERL)
and is opened from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm daily; while the guided
transit tour counter is manned by Menara KL.
At the launch of
DKL, Dato’ Azmi Murad, Senior General Manager Operations,
Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad, called on the airport community
to help spread the word around to passengers on the availability
of DKL transit tours.
Dato’ Mirza
Mohammad Taiyab, Tourism Malaysia Director General, said at the
launch that DKL is timely as it is launched during Visit Malaysia
Year 2007 and the celebration of Malaysia’s 50th independence
anniversary. “With DKL, we now have an opportunity to convert
transiting passengers into visiting passengers, and hopefully
transform them into returning visitors.” Earlier, Dato’
Mirza performed the merenjis/tepung tawar ceremony to bless the
Transit Tour counter in the Satellite Building.
