| PENANG:
Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, in its final stages of a RM100mil redevelopment,
will re-open on Sept 28. Its general manager
Arbind K. Shrestha said the resort had been transformed and this could be seen
in the rustic wooden shingles on the rooftop of the new RM14mil CHI, The Spa,
to its spacious rooms and suites. "We
are scheduled to re-open for business in about three weeks," he said, adding
that 450 employees were undergoing training. Shrestha
said this after Penang State Museum board chairman Datuk Daud Taha presented a
reproduction of one of the late William Daniell's scenic paintings of old Penang
to the resort in Batu Ferringhi yesterday. He
said the resort's international chain had been on an aggressive promotion campaign
to woo guests from Europe, Australia, Japan, and the United States. "We
are also offering incentives and privileges to guests who stay at the resort from
Sept 28 to Dec 19," he said, adding that there were introductory offers at
its new CHI, The Spa. The resort was
closed in December 2004 and its staff retrenched to facilitate the redevelopment
project. For more info or booking to
