Tourism Malaysia wins award at Melbourne expo

MELBOURNE: Tourism Malaysia officials were all smiles when Malaysia won the award for Best MultiStand at the two-day Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (Aime) 2006 here.

The stand, which highlighted the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the iconic Petronas Twin Towers as well as Malaysia's natural beauty and diverse cultures, stood out among entries submitted by more than 2,000 competitors here on Wednesday.

"We are delighted with the result," Tourism Malaysia's Melbourne director Putra Hilmy Elias said.

The award, one of four presented by Victoria's state Tourism Minister John Pandazopoulos, was witnessed by about 3,000 AIME delegates from all over the world.

KLCC general manager Peter Brokenshire said he was extremely pleased with the interest shown in the centre by prospective buyers.
